Senior Room - Ms. Collins - Fourth, Fifth & Sixth Class

The senior classes are taught by Ms. Collins. This class grouping comprises of 4th, 5th and 6th class.

The Primary School Curriculum is followed in the senior classes, with each student receiving a broad education.

All children are encouraged to do their best and reach their potential. A particular emphasis is placed on confidence building, presentation and oral language skills.

All children are proficient in using technology.  We do a large amount of group and project work across all areas of the Curriculum. This learning promotes teamwork, IT efficiency and presentation skills.

Children in 6th class are prepared for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Sport is an integral part of the Senior Room. Every year we participate in the Cumann na mBunscol football competition for both boys and girls. We also attend locally organised blitzes to develop our skills and attend GAA fun days in the Dome in Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo.

Soccer is very well catered for in the Senior Classes. We have an external coach who visits us every week to develop our soccer skils. We participate in the FAI 5 a side competition and the local Primary Schools Ballyboro tournament. We have had great success, winning the B Final the past two years.

We also participate in Tag Rugby blitzes organised by Connacht Rugby and Creggs RFC and basketball competitions.

Senior classes compete in the annual Credit Union Art Competition with regular success. Children also take part in local community games activities, winning trophies and medals.

The children all participate in many extracurricular programmes including the Concern Debating Competition, The Junior Entrepreneur Programme,  The Cycle Right Programme and local creative writing and poetry competitions.

Overall, our class embraces the School Motto ‘Ní neart go cur le chéile’ with great enthusiasm!
